The winery is best known for its ice wine, although the table wines are also award-winning. There are public and private tasting options, including ice wine tastings. Tasting experiences start at CAD 15 per person for a 25-minute outdoor session with two premium tables and one ice wine or four premium table wines. Of all the Niagara on the Lake wineries, Wayne Gretzky Estates is by far the most popular with tourists. The Reif Estate winery, the oldest of the Niagara on the Lake wineries, was founded in 1982 and produced wines from its 1977 vineyard. It is one of the most desirable wineries for many tourists and is in a very attractive location. The grapes are grown in a location where the plants receive sufficient sunlight and drafts. In addition, the time of sowing must be sufficient for the grapes to grow well. The winery also has a variety called Vinifera, which is suitable for cold climates because it ripens faster.
